Special Tools and Misc Parts For R&R of Pre-Alpha, Alpha One and Alpha One Generation II Sterndrive Ujoint Bellows Scroll Down for Bravo Tools |
---|---|---|
91-78310 Hinge Pin Tool $31.00 Used only on gimbals that have threaded hinge pins. Earlier model drives do not require this tool as they may have the older press-in hinge pins. If you have Trim Sender Switches on either side of your Gimbal Ring, you have threaded hinge pins. You will need this tool to replace your ujoint bellows. Used on Alpha One, Alpha Gen II, Bravo's and TRS drives. |
30-879194A02 Gimbal Bearing $137.00 This new style Gimbal Bearing does not require grease. Older bearings had a grease passage hole which was supposed to be installed inline with the gimbals grease passage. This new bearing has no grease hole and requires no grease. This bearing does not always need to be replaced when changing your ujoint bellows but it should be inspected and replaced if needed. Used on R, MR, MCI, Alpha One, Alpha Gen II and most Bravo drives. |
91-34569A1 Slide Hammer Kit $260.00 This slide hammer kit works great for removing your gimbal bearing. It is not required if you are only replacing your ujoint bellows. This Kit also is required when rebuilding the drive as it is used for removing the bearing races from the housings. Used for servicing all drives and all Gimbal Bearings. |
91-37323 Driver Rod $23.00 This rod is only required if you are going to replace your Gimbal Bearing. The driver heads thread onto the end of this rod When the Driver Head and the Collar Tool are properly assembled onto this rod it allows you to hammer the Gimbal Bearing into place. Make sure to follow the instructions in the Service Manual. Coat the perimeter of the bearing with light grease and coat the cleaned gimbal bore with grease too. Use a good solid Dead-Blow Hammer and make sure it goes in straight. Used for servicing all drives and all Gimbal Bearings. |
91-32325T Driver Head $65.00 This drive head is only required if you are going to replace your Gimbal Bearing. It threads onto the end of the Driver Rod. Always apply grease onto the rods threaded end to prevent damage from occuring to the threads. The Collar Tool will slip over this head to insure proper installation of the bearing. Used for servicing all drives and all Gimbal Bearings. |
91-30366T1 Collar Tool $45.00 This tool is only required if you are going to replace your Gimbal Bearing. This Collar Tool slips over the Driver Head. This Collar makes sure the bearings race is driven into place at the same rate as the center bearing. If not used, the gimbal bearing will be damaged during installation. Used for servicing all drives and all Gimbal Bearings. |
91-8M0096108 Bellows Expansion Tool $125.00 This tool is required when replacing the Ujoint Bellows. It is used to pull the Exhaust Bellows back into place on the Bell Housing. Pulling a new Exhaust Bellows into place is almost impossible without this tool. If you are using your old Exhaust Bellows you might not need this tool. Also, if you decide to use an Exhaust Tube instead of the Exhaust Bellow, you will not need this expansion tool. Used for servicing all gimbals that have Exhaust Bellows. |
91-12037 Shift Cable Socket Tool $59.00 This tool is required to replace your shift cable. Most customers replace their Shift Cable Assembly when they replace their Ujoint Bellows. The cable gets damaged during the replacment of the ujoint bellows from being stretched and bent. Never reuse an old drive shift cable as it will bind and cause shifting problems. Replacing the Shift Cable Bellows requires removal of the shift cable from the Gimbal and this will ruin the cable. Do the job right the first time so you don't have to remove the drive a second time. Do your Shift Cable and the Shift Bellows when servicing your Ujoint Bellows and your boat will shift better. Used on R, MR, MCI, Alpha One and Alpha Gen II drives. |
91-805475A1 Engine Alignment Tool $280.00 This tool is not required to replace your Ujoint Bellows. However, it is smart practice to check your engine alignment whenever your drive is pulled off for service. The engine alignment is critical for long Coupler and Gimbal Bearing Life. This tool also makes installation of the drive easier as it centers the middle of the gimbal bearing bearing for easier shaft installation. Used on all drives. |
92-802870A1 changes to 92-8M0190472 Gimbal Bearing Grease $16.00 This grease is good to have during assembly. New Gimbal Bearings are Permalube Bearings and require no grease. That said, a coating of this grease on the race and in the bore will help installation of the bearing to go much smoother. It can also be used on the driveshaft splines, shift shafts and propshaft. |
92-86166Q1 Bellows Adhesive $13.00 This glue is required for all Ujoint Bellows Assembly. Apply a thin coating to the bellows and the sealing surface. Let the glue get tackey for about 5 to 10 minutes before installation. Push and hold the bellows into place to let the glue set a little before snugging up the hose clamps. Used on all drives. |
26-88416 Front Bearing Seal $29.00 This seal is located in front of the Gimbal Bearing. It does not need to be replaced if your not replacing the bearing. This seal prevents grease from the bearing from splattering in the engine compartment but it also prevents debris from entering the bearing. The Gimbal Bearing must be removed to replace this seal. Not all customers elect to replace this seal as it's usually in good enough condition to be reused if left in place. |
45518T1 Shift Bushing & Lever Kit $92.00 This Kit is not required for replacing only your Ujoint Bellows. Early model pre-Alpha and Alpha One Bell Housings had a weak Upper Shift Shaft Seal which would fail and leak water into the Ujoint Bellows and Shift Cable causing rust, corrosion and damage. Most good techs install this Kit if needed to prevent future damage. Alpha Gen II drives already have a double seal and do not require this Kit. |
27-94996Q2 Gasket Kit $14.00 (square type) This gasket must be replaced when replacing your Ujoint Bellows Never reuse an old drive mounting gasket. This gasket has the square edges for Alpha One and Alpha Gen II units. It also has a hole for the Oil Passage for the Alpha Gen II drives The Gasket Kit includes the big oring, water passage oring and the three orange orings which fit on the driveshaft. Glue the two gimbal orings into place with Bellows Adhesive. Never use sealant on the drive mounting gasket. It goes on dry. |
27-64818Q4 Gasket Kit $13.00 (old rounded type) This gasket must be replaced and should never be reused. The older drived had crowned or rounded edges on the upper housings and this gasket is used for those older units. Never use sealant when mount the drive. This gasket mounts dry. |
12-72498 Side Synthane Washers $3.00 (threaded hinge pins) These synthane washers are self adhesive and are to be stuck onto either side of the Bell Housing. They act as a spacer between the Bell Housing and the Gimbal Ring. It is standard practice to always replace these washers when serving the Ujoint Bellows. They fit gimbals with the threaded hinge pins. |
12-38000 Side Synthane Washers $1.70 (press-in hinge pins) These synthane washers are self adhesive and are to be stuck onto either side of the Bell Housing. They act as a spacer between the Bell Housing and the Gimbal Ring. It is standard practice to always replace these washers when serving the Ujoint Bellows. They fit gimbals with press-in hinge pins. |
77123 Hinge Pin (threaded) $32.00 You may not need these Hinge Pins if your old pins are OK. Always follow the manuals installation procedure(s) for this pin. Place one drop of the correct LockTight threadlocker on the threads and torque to the factory specifications. |
17-77361A1 Hinge Pin Kit $82.00 (one pin and one nail)(press-in) You may not need these Hinge Pins if your old pins are OK. These pins are tapped into place. A locking cross-nail is then installed and bent over to lock the pins into place. The cross-nails are usually ruined during removal so chances are good you will need a pair of these Hing Pin Kits. |
32-32461 Water Hose $20.00 (5/8" used on older units) Gimbals used two sizes of hose depending on the model and year. Older units with the copper water tube typically used this smaller 5/8" hose. Follow the manuals specification for the exact hose length and installation procedure. |
